So lets read that again. Building consistency requires nurturing the character we aspire to embody. Whether it’s committing to daily prayers, regular Quran recitation, or any other spiritual endeavour, our actions should resonate with our desired identity.
Consider these two scenarios: To maintain consistency in studying Arabic or with Hifz of the Qur’an, you are embracing the persona and traits of a devoted student of knowledge. Instead of fixating on the amount of material learned, prioritise the effort invested. Understand that challenges may arise, but what truly matters is your commitment to learning and aligning your actions with your desired identity as a student of knowledge. Therefore, focus on nurturing the character that reflects your aspirations, allowing your dedication to shape your spiritual journey. Imagine yourself as a dedicated student of spirituality, eager to deepen your understanding and connection with the Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. With this mindset, each act of worship becomes a reaffirmation of your spiritual journey. And remember, you are being rewarded each step of the way, even if you haven’t reached your goal yet.
As we embark on this journey of consistency, let’s take a moment for introspection. Reflect on the character traits you wish to cultivate and the practices you aim to integrate into your daily life. I have always desired to study Arabic simply because I wanted to understand what I was praying whilst reciting the Holy Qur’an and my daily du’as.
